This is an online marks to percentage calculator to help students in tracking their academic progress. Whether you're following the CBSE, IGCSE, IB are other educational boards. Knowing how to calculate your percentage will help you better evaluate your academic growth and prepare for future improvements. Use this tool to calculate your marks percentage, allowing you to focus on your study rather than the math.
The Term percentage is a fraction of 100 and is commonly used in academic performance for better understanding. Students frequently come upon this word when checking their exam results. Calculating the percentage allows students to evaluate their overall academic growth and compare their performance across the subjects
This tool is designed to help both students and parents to calculate their marks to percentage. Students can use this tool to quickly calculate their percentage by entering their acquired scores as well as the overall exam marks. This will reduce the process of manually calculating with formulas.
Percentage = (Total Marks achieved / Overall Exam Marks) × 100
1. Enter Your Marks:
Input the total marks you obtained
2. Use the Formula:
Percentage = (Total Marks achieved
/ Overall Exam Marks) × 100
Calculate the percentage using the formula by adding the marks achieved in all subjects and dividing them by the overall exam score into 100. Please refer below examples for reference.
Here is an example of how to calculate percentage of Marks for the CBSE Board Exam:
Marks Obtained:
●
Mathematics:
88
●
Science: 92
●
English: 85
●
Social
Science: 80
● Hindi: 90
Step 1: Calculate
the Total achieved Marks of all Subjects
88 + 92 + 85 + 80 + 90 = 435
Step 2: Calculate
Maximum Total Marks
For CBSE, each subject typically
carries a maximum of 100 marks. With 5 subjects, the total maximum marks are:
100 × 5 = 500
Step 3: Apply the
Formula
Percentage = (435 / 500) × 100 = 87%
If you have more than five subjects, such as in some state boards or other curriculums, you can still use the same formula. Here’s an example for six subjects
Marks Obtained:
●
Mathematics:
75
●
Physics: 80
●
Chemistry: 70
●
Biology: 65
●
History: 90
● English: 85
Step 1: Calculate the
Total Marks Obtained
75 + 80 + 70 + 65 + 90 + 85 = 465
Step 2: Calculate
Maximum Total Marks
For 6 subjects, if each subject is
out of 100 marks:
100 × 6 = 600
Step 3: Apply the
Formula
Percentage = (465 / 600) × 100 = 77.5%
Various educational boards use
different grading systems. Here’s how to calculate your percentage for each

Check Maximum Marks:
Ensure you know the total maximum marks for all subjects.
●
Include Relevant Subjects Only: Calculate the percentage only for subjects that count towards
the final score.
●
Consult Official Guidelines: Some boards use credits or grades, so check their specific
conversion methods (e.g., IB or IGCSE).
● Accuracy is Key: Double-check your calculations to avoid errors.
Note: Each board follows a unique grading system. So, it's crucial to check the specific grading system of your board to ensure accurate results.
The CBSE Curriculum (Central Board of
Secondary Education) grades the students with grade points in the Exam.
