On 26th November, our school celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava with great enthusiasm and cultural pride. The event was marked by the vibrant participation of students, who adorned traditional ethnic attire, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka.
The celebration began with a melodious rendition of the Kannada anthem, setting the tone for the day. Students from various sections showcased a variety of programs, including folk dances, patriotic songs, and short skits that highlighted Karnataka's history, culture, and contributions to the nation.
The energy and creativity displayed by the students captivated the audience, while the colorful attires and spirited performances created a festive atmosphere. The program concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving everyone with a sense of pride and admiration for Kannada culture.

On the occasion of International Day against Violence and Bullying, Grade 9 students attended a screening of the thought-provoking short film "Chuppi Todo" (Break the Silence) on 07/11/2024. The film sparked meaningful discussions and reflections on the importance of addressing and preventing bullying. Children's Day is both a celebration of childhood and a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect, educate, and empower children for a brighter future.At NIS the teachers of different sections showcased a plethora of programmes to commemorate Children's Day.
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is celebrated in India every year on 26th November. This day marks the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949 by the Constituent Assembly. It came into effect on 26th January 1950, which is observed as Republic Day.
Significance:
Constitution Day is a tribute to the visionaries who drafted the Constitution, led by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chairman of the drafting committee. It serves as a reminder of the fundamental principles of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution.

Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav is a weeklong celebration by the Department of School Education to commemorate the birth anniversary of the revered Mahakavi Subramania Bharati, on 11 December 2024.
The theme for this year Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav is “Unity through languages”.
At NIS students were encouraged to learn different Indian languages and celebrate diversity in culture and arts.
Middle school students participated in “On the spot Creativity”, and displayed their exemplary artistic skills with simple geometrical style and symbolic depictions in the Warli art.
Reflections: Around 245 students were part of “Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav” which helped students emphasize on preserving and promoting Indian languages and art. Students took pride and joy in learning different Indian languages.
Poshan Abhiyaan is a nationwide nutrition program in India that aims to reduce malnutrition. The program focuses on the nutritional status of children, pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls.
At NIS, we held a variety of activities to celebrate Rashtriya Poshak Maah, for middle school students which is celebrated every year as part of Poshan Abhiyaan. A few activities conducted were:
Reflections: A total of 262 students were a part of the program, realising the significance of good health and hygiene, avoiding packaged foods and saying no to plastic. Students are aware about the repercussions of malnutrition and limited access to nutritious food resulting in high malnutrition in the country.
The Annual day celebration at NIS was a vibrant tribute to the Navarasas , the nine emotions of classical Indian aesthetics. Through a blend of dance, drama, music and art , students expressed these emotions, showcasing the depth and diversity of human feelings while paying homage to Indian cultural heritage.
NIS celebrated Janjatiya Gaurav Divas on November 15, marking the birth anniversary of
tribal leader Birsa Munda to honor his significant role in the fight for tribal freedom. A tribal
fashion show was conducted.It was an enlightening experience.
The Senior Secondary section students of NITTE International School celebrated the
Janjatiya Divas Day on 15 Nov 2024 to commemorate the efforts of Birsa Munda and
contributions of other tribal leaders to India's history. This day served as an occasion to
celebrate the culture, traditions and achievements of the tribal communities.
The Green India Mission (GIM) was launched in 2014. The aim of the mission was to protect, restore, and enhance India's diminishing forest cover and respond to climate change by incorporating a combination of mitigation and adaptation measures. NIS in collaboration with the National academy for Art education organised an art competition.The competition focusing on the Green India Mission brought more awareness towards environmental sustainability.
Nitte International School hosted an exciting literary & cultural fiesta - Melange for our tiny tots on August 7th and 8th, 2024. The fest featured a variety of activities including solo dance, fancy dress, action song, storytelling, thumb printing, and clay modelling. Our little stars had a great opportunity to participate in these fun-filled events and their incredible performances were celebrated with awards. It was a delightful experience full of creativity and joy!

A session on "I am my best friend" was conducted on 9 September for grade 10 students by Dr. Shailaja Shastri.The objective was to empower students with emotional intelligence and coping strategies.The key takeaways were the following: *Understanding and managing emotions for better mental health. *Effective coping mechanisms for dealing with stress and anxiety. *Building resilience to tackle feelings of helplessness.
30 NIS students along with 3 teachers visited U R Rao Satellite Center,Bangalore on 3rd Sep 2024. Students got to understand about different aspects of Space technology.
Career Counselling is crucial for students to make significant decisions about their future. NIS organised a career counselling session on 30th August 2024 to help students to choose a profession based on their aptitude and acumen.The guest speaker Dr.William, chairperson -North Dakota State University enumerated the opportunities available for students .
151 NIS students of grades 6-8 embarked on an exciting excursion to Suggee resort on 29 August 2024 . The day was filled with myriad activities and adventure.The excursion provided a perfect blend of education and recreation leaving a lasting impression on the students and creating cherished memories of a day well spent.
122 NIS students of grades 1 to 3 visited Prani Pet Sanctuary on August 29, 2024. The trip was an exciting experience, combining fun with academic learning. Overall, it was an engaging and insightful trip for the young students.
On August 27, 2024, 66 students from grades 4 and 5 at NIS visited Bhagyalakshmi Farms. The educational trip highlighted sustainable farming practices, including composting and pottery making. Students engaged in hands-on activities, acquiring practical knowledge about soil health and traditional crafts. The visit successfully combined learning with enjoyment, making it a memorable day of experiential education.
Dr. Shivasharanappa N, a Senior Scientist at ICAR, conducted a valuable session for students, emphasizing the importance of animal habitats, especially in India. He highlighted the diverse ecosystems that support domestic animals and underscored their significance in maintaining animal health. The session was interdisciplinary, blending Environmental Science and Social Studies to provide a comprehensive view of how habitat preservation and climatic adaptation are crucial for animal welfare.
National Space Day is celebrated to honour and recognise the achievements of space missions and advancements in space technology. Mr.Rajeev Senan ,division head of LPSC / ISRO Bangalore addressed the students of grades 8-11 and gave an overview of Spacecraft propulsion. The students interactive session helped in clarifying and inspiring students to explore space science.

At NIS the hoisting of the flag propelled the celebration of the spirit of
freedom. It helped the students and faculty to revel in the achievements of our great freedom fighters
while also spreading the essence of patriotism and liberty through myriad programmes like patriotic
songs,speech to name a few.
Kargil Divas, commemorating the Indian soldiers' victory in the Kargil War was celebrated at NIS on 26 July 2024.A cultural programme showcasing the bravery and patriotism of our soldiers was organised.These activities helped students to appreciate the significance of the day.
On the occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi our Pre-primary students were engaged in making leaf Ganesha. Our tiny tots participated in this celebration wholeheartedly .To add more colour to the festive celebration our students dressed themselves in traditional attire.
On 14th August 2024, NIS organised an excursion for our Pre-primary students to the Prani
Pet Sanctuary.The highlight of the outing was the hands-on interaction with the sanctuary's pets.
Under the watchful guidance of the staff, our students relished the opportunity to
cuddle rabbits, feed birds, and engage with farm animals such as horses, goats, ponies, and
even Emu and the hamster. These experiences not only nurtured empathy and kindness but
also instilled a profound sense of responsibility among our young learners.
Fun trips are an
essential component of early childhood education,providing a balanced approach to development that
includes social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth.Our Pre-Primary students were taken to
Prani - the pet sanctuary .This trip allowed children to experience the world beyond the classroom
NIS celebrated Heritage fest in collaboration with ISKCON Bangalore. 13 events including Shloka chanting,colouring, painting, pencil shading etc witnessed an extraordinary participation and the students thoroughly enjoyed it.
Pre Primary children of NIS Celebrated Colours Week. Children learnt the significance of different colours through activities and fun games.
Rhymes can indeed be a fantastic way for young children to explore language and expression.Rhymes is an instrumental stepping stone for young children to develop verbal skill and boost their confidence. We at NIS organised Rhymes Recitation on 8th July 2024. Our tiny tots enjoyed the beauty of expression, thought, feeling,rhythm and the music of words.
