Diwali festival beautifully elucidates the story of Lord Rama. It is a celebration of the day when Lord Rama returns to his kingdom Ayodhya, after 14 years of exile and after defeating Ravana.
In NIS, Grade I to V celebrated the Diwali festival on 16th November, 2023.The children made lanterns and ‘toran’. Students enjoyed this activity.
The students of NIS Pre-Primary donned their ‘Chef Caps’ to exhibit their culinary skills in the activity named ‘Cooking Without Fire’ . The tiny tots exhibited various themes like save the 'Girl Child '(vegetable carving),healthy habits to be inculcated to name a few.
OBJECTIVE: The main objective of conducting an educational trip is to get to know the importance of sports which is an integral part of our life.
DESCRIPTION:The Padukone-Dravid Centre for sports excellence is India’s finest integrated multi-sport complex, built to encourage athletes in every sport. It has 16 acres of land providing world-class, hassle-free infrastructure across 9 different sports including Badminton, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Swimming, Shooting, Squash, Basketball and Volleyball. The students were exposed to many different games
Through this visit, students of grade II & III were amazed to see the different games and learnt the names of different sports. Students got a chance to play football under the guidance of the academy staff. Students also got the chance to run on the track which made them to experience how the real track events are conducted. Students seemed well aware about what sport they would take up in the future.
Two Government Schools namely Government higher primary school Singanayakhanahalli and Government High School Marasandra,Rajanukunte participated in the event.Thus the event benefited 100 students and 4 faculties.

NIS had organised an educational trip on 12 th August to Aqua Splash water plant for grade 4 & 5. 141 students and 14 teachers had visited the plant located in Bettahalsoor.The main objective of the trip was to educate students of how water is purified and what steps are involved in purification and how water is filled in the bottle and packed.They learned the backend processes involved in manufacturing the end product. Students enthusiastically asked numerous questions and gathered a lot of information .They were very interested to see practically how pet preform plastic (raw) is moulded into the shape of a water bottle. They also came to know that ‘Aqua Splash’ water bottles were sold over India and they had a tie up with TATA Company.
Overall, the field trip was very useful as it made everyone learn more about water purification and manufacturing of water bottles.
The Inter House Patriotic Singing Competition was held on August 14, 2023. The event showcased exceptional vocal talents.Participants from Visvesvaraya house (9th- 12th) secured the 1st prize, delivering an emotionally charged performance that left a lasting impact APJ house (9th -12th) claimed the 2nd prize, impressing the audience with their musical rendition. The event was judged by an alumnus Nischith The performances resonated with the audience and fostered a sense of pride. As the event concluded, the echo of these powerful performances continued to inspire, reaffirming the unifying strength of music.

“Spelling helps cement the connection that is shared between sounds and letters.” Learning a language is the foremost step in the life of a child as it helps them to communicate with the world and a school plays a vital role to facilitate the child. In the time and age of auto-correct, predictive text and spell check, the Spell-Bee competition for Grades I to V students held at NIS came as a whiff of fresh breeze. The inter house Spell-Bee competition for Grades I to V students was organised by the Faculty of English, in the school activity hall on 7th August 2023. Students participated with great enthusiasm and duelled through the toughest words to prove their mettle. Each team comprised 8 participants. The competition was conducted in 3 rounds namely ,
The children enjoyed the challenging questions and played enthusiastically. This competition also helped in enriching the vocabulary bank of the students. The first prize was bagged by Ramanujan house. The Second prize by APJ Abdul Kalam House, the Aryabhata House came third followed by Visvesvaraya House. It was truly a fun- filled event!
The tiny tots of NIS celebrated the community helpers day with great zeal. The children dressed up as their favourite community helper and discussed the different roles they play in the society.
On 21 July, a Model United Nations (MUN) session was held at NPS Yeshwanthpur, where four students from Nitte International School actively participated as representatives. The committee for the session was the Human Rights Commission, and the topic allotted was the critical issue of Afghanistan and Taliban.
The students from Nitte International School were divided into two countries, with Swarag and Jathin representing the United Kingdom and Yuvaan Shankar and Vidya representing India. As delegates, they delved into the complexities of issues prevailing in Afghanistan and Taliban and engaged in intense debates and discussions to find plausible solutions.
The MUN session proved to be a wonderful learning experience for the participating students. It offered them a unique opportunity to gain practical insights into international relations, diplomacy, and the art of negotiation.
NIS organised an Educational field trip to " CENTRE FOR SPORTS EXCELLENCE" on Monday 17-7-2023. This enabled our children to understand the essence of sports, discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. It encouraged children to take up sports and make it an integral part of their lives.
Low self-esteem prevents an individual from enjoying one’s life. It prevents an individual from socialising and maintaining friendships.
Self-esteem is one of those intrinsic qualities that develop slowly over a period of time. Those with low self-esteem might lack certain social skills, lack assertiveness, or even walk into a room with drooping shoulders.
On 4th July 2023, the session on ‘Self-Worth’ was conducted by the School counsellor Ms.Rhea Ann Cherian and Ms. Mary Cathleen to educate the students of NIS about the "Importance of life" and the core value of life.
The counsellors elaborated their views with a PPT presentation and an interactive session followed. This created a platform for the students to interact and express their views .
At NIS, the Investiture Ceremony is not just about providing titles, but about conferring responsibilities to the student council to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school.
The Chief Guest Lt. Col. Lunik Basu Roy , commanding officer of 5 Kar Battalion graced the occasion and had an interactive session on the topic Leadership and its significance.

“A Father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow”.
Father’s Day is a celebration honouring the influence of father in a society. Father’s Day in NIS was celebrated on 16 June, 2023.
The students of the Primary section at NIS celebrated this day and showed their filial respect and gratitude in a spectacular way. They celebrated by making cards, cup craft, singing melodies and reciting rhymes to their beloved fathers.
This was an apt occasion for the students to express their love and affection to their strongest pillar in life ---- their ‘Dad’.

The visit to the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) proved to be a fruitful and

The NIS activity committee conducted the Clean Campus Drive at school for the students of the Senior Secondary Section on the account of World Conservation Day that was celebrated on the 28 th of July, 2023. The students gathered at the school ground with their safety gear and picked trash (plastic and paper) . The students were able to gather a good number of plastic materials that usually go unnoticed and could pollute the soil. Students thoroughly enjoyed the activity. This activity brought about a consciousness to keep the campus clean and to dispose of waste effectively.
Eid al-adha, is a significant festival that is celebrated worldwide. Celebrations vary from country to country . People celebrate by decorating homes,by visiting family, by preparing delicious food , by wearing new clothes and by giving and receiving gifts.We at NIS celebrated Eid on 30th June on a grand scale.

NIS students celebrated Doctor’s Day on 01, July with great enthusiasm. Students from Grade I to V made “First aid kits”. This activity created awareness about the importance of providing timely assistance and about the invaluable contribution of doctors towards mankind.
The day was commemorated by discussing about the legendary physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. The students also appreciated the contribution made by the Covid warriors.
World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 5 June 2023. Our tiny tots learned the importance and the need to take care of our environment.They participated in the celebration whole heartedly.

By celebrating World Environment Day, we acknowledge that a healthy environment is a foundation for a stable and productive society. Aiming to protect, conserve and sustain our natural resources, the Primary wing of NITTE International School organised a Special Assembly and celebrated World Environment Day on 05 th June, 2023. The children planted flower saplings in the garden and were able to create a beautiful butterfly garden. This activity was organised for the students of Grade I to V. The students were all dressed in green attire. The aim was to propagate consciousness among our little buds, about the importance of nurturing our nature for a better future.

A special assembly was conducted on the occasion of World Environment day with the UN theme “Solutions to Plastic Pollution”. The special assembly was conducted across classes 6 to 12.
The special assembly began with a School prayer song followed by the green pledge, to protect the environment .The program was then taken over by the hosts of the day, Ryan and Drithi, from class 12 of Science and Commerce respectively. The programme commenced with a dialogue and a poem recitation by the students of class 6 . A song dedicated to the Environment composed by Michael Jackson was presented by the class 11 students of Science and Commerce.
A quiz was hosted by the science students of class 11. It was based on the facts of World Environment day. A wonderful thematic dance was also presented by the students of class 6 which was followed by a speech by a student of class 12 Commerce.
The most interesting part of the assembly was the display of varieties of decor presented by a student of class 9, Suhas who made use of trash items. A skit presented by the students of the Middle section showcased the ill effects of burning plastic. A dance presented by the students of class 9 and 10 focused on the importance of saving Mother Earth.
The day concluded with an inspiring talk from the Principal who stressed on the importance of keeping ‘NIS’ a plastic free zone. Ma’am emphasized on the need to take small initiatives like switching off the lights and fans when not in use and thus promoting a green environment.
Nitte International School organized a trip to Kochi - Munnar for the students of classes 9 to 12 of our school. Our Principal and the School Management facilitated the tour for the students in collaboration with Manas Voyagers.
All the way from Bangalore, the travel had been completely planned and set up with all safety precautions. The journey started from Bangalore City Railway station and the kids enjoyed their first train journey with their friends which took around 10 hours. We reached the Ernakulum Railway Station and after their breakfast, the first day started with a visit to Fort Kochi where kids were mesmerized by the first European fort on Indian soil, controlled by the Portuguese East Indies and Chinese fishing Net the unique way of fishing introduced by Chinese explorers who landed here in the 14th century. The day ended with a Cruise drive, with kids enjoying the DJ music with dance, and shopping at Lulu Mall the world's largest shopping center.
The second day started with a journey in an AC bus where the time went on in madness along with good music to Munnar, our prime destination. As we began to roll above the hills, the students were taken aback by the beauty they had been seeing. After lunch, we proceeded to the dam at Mattupetty to enjoy and relax. We also had boating. There was a surprise for all of them by Our Principal and the Management as it was Children’s day. A cake with DJ was arranged to wish our kids in a different way. Kids were thrilled and full of energy, danced to the numbers played by the DJ, and later gobbled up all the good food they were being served. The second night staying with friends gave them an experience of cooperating, sharing, and caring for each other.
The succeeding day, everyone woke up on time with great enthusiasm for their sightseeing at Ernakulam National Park where we found Nilgiri Tahr the endangered habitat being protected. We could see the Tahr roaming around in the area everywhere without fear. All students were keen on getting pictures photographed. Clubbing everyone together we got a beautiful picture clicked, while the students got their specific gang pictures as well. The Tea Museum at Munnar highlighted the manufacturing of tea powder from tea leaves. Kids were astonished to watch and listen to the various stages of tea processing - crush, tear and curl owned by Kannan Devan company.
We headed towards our hotel for lunch and proceeded towards the plantation at Tokkupara where kids got an opportunity to learn about the ayurvedic medicinal plants used for various diseases. The Brahmi and Ashwagandha - the king and queen of Ayurveda. Kids were all appreciated by people around them as they specifically chose and purchased ayurvedic medicines, spices, and chocolates for their parents.
Yes, the most important feast for our eyes. The show for which the tickets were booked in advance, Kalaripayattu considered one of the most ancient martial arts in the world. The fighting forms indigenous to God's own Country, the mother of the martial arts. We all were mesmerized to see the powerful performances, those sharp reflexes, and the skillful fight using sticks, daggers, knives, spear swords, and shields gave us goosebumps throughout the show. In the end, we all went and clicked pics with them.
Yes, the night was dark, filled with treasures of memories. One more day of the journey to Alleppey, the place of backwaters. The picturesque city is known for its enchanting backwaters, scenic beauty, and evergreen coconut groves. The houseboat cruise had a soothing effect on us. Children enjoyed every moment of creating memories as they also had a thrilling experience in the speed boat. Yes, the last purchase after the houseboat was the famous banana chips for our homes. All the best scenery for photographs, a billion pictures were taken from various destinations throughout the trip. We reached the railway station to head towards Bangalore.
Yes, we reached Bangalore the following day. The Kerala tour package had hence been over and all of them were sent along with their parents. Journeys of teachers’ life had hence begun as travel companions to the students. All students created memories with their friends and learned through the trip for a lifetime.
On November 12, 2022, 45 students with four teachers went to “The Big Barn Farm” to spend quality time filled with simple yet meaningful experiences with nature. And yes, this outing was a treat to students and teachers alike.
The Big Barn is an organic-certified farm close to the Bannerghatta National park, a perfect getaway from the bustle of the city. The guide in charge of our group, Darshan, was very engaging with the kids. He was knowledgeable and had lots to share about the plants and animals. We reached the farm at 11:30 a.m. After the welcome drink and refreshments, the guide in charge briefed us on the Dos and Don’ts. Students enjoyed the various activities like adventure sports, water sports, bird watching, tent pitching and other team-building activities conducted by the farm’s organisers. Finally, on 13th November 2022, at 3:45 pm, we boarded the bus and returned to the school campus, where parents picked up their children.
The Big Barn was a trip to innocence and a fun learning experience. A place that naturally inspires a sense of belonging to nature, a sense of how peaceful and joyful life can be. It was an excellent opportunity to introduce them to different animals and get them thinking about where our food comes from and many other topics, including the life cycles of plants and animals.
The Big Barn Farm- A picturesque getaway and an undiscovered gem on the outskirts of Bangalore. This was an ideal place for NIS students to spend their day away from the frantic hustle of the city, to feel reinvigorated in the lap of nature and among lovable animals. The team at the farm were very helpful and knowledgeable. They offer a guided tour, providing interesting nuggets about nature on the go. Our children were allowed to feed the animals and pet them too. Children spent hours at this place with friends and enjoyed breathing in clean and fresh air before returning to the madness of city life. Children were filled with fun and wanted a longer stay to enjoy themselves. It is certainly a place to visit again.
On Monday 14 of November, a trip was organised for grade I and II .This trip aimed to develop deeper understanding of farming, to nurture the nature and animals. Before proceeding to the farm students were welcomed by the farm manager Mr Darshan who took us through the journey of Big Barn Farm ... with the saying hey! Hey! Ho! Ho ! .The team first served the students with the breakfast . Then the Team took the students to various sections of the farm.
Mr Madan led our students through the farm and gave informative facts on an anthill. Children fed the cows and bulls with the guidance and experienced the friendly bond with the farm animals .The little once also had a wonderful experience of touching and understanding about the farm animals like turkey, lamb, rabbit and goose. Children felt that animals can understand the language of love too.
After a long walk children experienced the tractor ride which was exciting for them. Then they enjoyed the relishing lunch and assembled with the same zeal in the different section where children experienced to touch giant spider and also to know the interesting facts on it. Lastly children sowed methi seeds in the pots and was allowed to carry it to home as a token of love from the big barn farm team. Children had a lot of take away from the trip which was truly a memorable one.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn". We at NIS allow our children to learn through experience by involving them.The school organized an educational trip on 17 October 2022, and our tiny tots of NIS drove to the flower & vegetable garden. This trip not only provided them learning experience but helped them to connect with nature and develop a greater bond with their peers. At the flower & vegetable garden, they also saw a few domestic animals.They also enjoyed learning more about the vegetables like where they grow and how they grow. They were very excited to see the creepers and climbers and wondered how the vegetables grow on those plants. The nature walk helped them to connect and reflect on what they have learnt in the classroom. Experiential learning (authentic, first-hand, sensory-based learning) through field trips was a way for children to reflect on and apply their new knowledge.
Nitte International school has celebrated National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on 31-10-2022 to commemorate the Birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
A Special assembly was conducted by class 11 students on unity day, unity pledge was taken by all students and teachers of Nitte International School and NCC cadets participated in unity run (2KM) followed by March past.
SEWA is all about social or community service which help children to connect with their surroundings or to a cause, and is able to generate a sense of responsibility towards it.

As a part of the SEWA project the NITTE international school grade 9th STD student chose to create awareness on cancer. Today’s young generation is getting influenced to smoke, smoking has become trending in this generation with lot of young girls and boys engaging in such activity. Smoking is one of the leading cause for lung cancer. Our Students prepared a skit to create awareness on lung cancer. Students along with 4 teachers walked to the nearby village of Mylappanahalli and performed a street play, they also invited the Anganwadi teachers and children to see the play. We have received good responses from the villagers. Students communicated with a few people on the street and educated them on cancer. It was amazing to see our students educating the people.
The students of 12 Science (2022 - 2023), Nitte International School took an initiative to visit a blind school and render service as a part of the SEWA project . They visited Mathru Educational Trust for the Blind located in Yelahanka, Bangalore.Students organised fun games and songs to engage the children. In the later half of the day the student got to interact with a group of teenagers who were visually impaired. The young boys and girls were educated about safe and unsafe touch and other aspects of body safety in small groups. During this time they also exchanged their ambitions and interests.The students surely found this day worthwhile and hope to have many more such opportunities and projects in the future.
Nitte International School JD/JW second year NCC cadets had participated in CATC camp which was organized by 2KAR BN in Air Force Jalahalli East from 14 September to 21 September 2022. Cadets participated in various competitions during camp and won prizes.
On 2 September ,2022, the OEC members of Nitte International School were taken to the Government High School, Singanayalkanahalli for the Advocacy campaign session.
NIS Students enacted a skit based on equality, rendered an informative speech, and conducted a quiz for the Government School students. Oxfam students and the Coordinator interacted with the students of the school on the topic Gender Equality.
The host School headmaster appreciated the Management and Principal of Nitte International School for the initiative and the NIS Oxfam YLAC Equality Club for its good work.
The idea “All are Equal” and “No Discrimination” could reach out to the students effectively through the skit, speech, and placards presented both in Kannada (regional language) and English.
OXFAM India works primarily through grass roots organizations to bring deep-rooted sustainable changes in people’s lives. They work with underprivileged communities by mobilizing them to campaign for greater economic and social reforms.
YLAC is an organization founded by Harvard and Oxford alumni that works to strengthen our country’s democracy through increased citizen engagement. YLAC’s interventions are designed to equip citizens with a better understanding of the society they live in and the challenges that it confronts.
The “Equality Club” was started at NIS to create awareness among the students about Gender disparity, Income inequality and social inequality prevailing in the society. The club constitutes 40 members with the equal number of girls and boys. Ms. Reshma KV is the Teacher Co-ordinator. Activities that were organized for students witnessed enthusiastic participation from the club members.
We take great pride in the fact that OXFAM EQUALITY CLUB at NIS was recognized as the “BEST CLUB ACROSS THE COUNTRY” for active participation and concerted efforts of all involved.
Open Door was initiated by two alumni of IIT Madras to improve the learning habits of children. This program helps children to freely think and question. At NIS Open Door helped the children to understand difficult concepts. It helped teachers to evaluate themselves.
Open door has introduced two popular programs, Mastery Assessments and Thinking Classrooms at NIS.
Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization created in 2008 with the goal of creating a set of online tools that help to educate students. Khan Academy has been introduced at NIS for grades 5 to 9. It helps students to enhance their problem solving skills. Khan Academy conducts a programme called learn storm in which our students have been participating enthusiastically.
NCC is a premier youth organization in our country. It aims to develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth. A sense of patriotic commitment is also instilled to encourage cadets to contribute to national development.
Cadets are trained and raised to respect diversities in religion, language, culture, ethnicity, lifestyle and habitat to instill a sense of National unity and integrity.
Cadets learn to take pride in these values which strengthens the spirit of being an Indian. This helps them gear towards joining the forces and providing their 100% when the country is in need of them.
An Artifact from the past:
An artifact is an object made by a human being. Artifacts include art, tools and clothing made by people of any time and place.
NIS had organized an Artifact inter-house competition on 15 December 2022. Children had to showcase their artifact work which was done in the recent past. The artistic work done by the tiny hands of grade I and II is commendable. Students showcase their art work like pot painting , pencil shading , thumb painting , comb painting and pot decoration in the art room and also had an opportunity to brief the art work to the judge . Students were highly appreciated by the teachers and left the hall with the loud applause .
We all know that during the holiday season it is harder to engage our students. Using holiday and seasonal activities helps to get over that hurdle. These Christmas activities had our students focused and engaged while working on important imaginary skills.
Snowflakes are one of the simplest, but most beautiful Christmas symbols. We love seeing Christmas trees adorned with snowflake ornaments, garlands of paper snowflakes, and wrapping paper dotted with their silvery-white shapes.
Children of grades 3 to 5 of NIS made different shapes of snowflakes as their vacation activities symbolizing that we all are humans who spread love, unity, and integrity throughout the world.
It is worth knowing that children can acquire wide range of skills from art and craft session. Their creativity is enhanced, motor skills are refined, and confidence and problem-solving abilities are improved. We as facilitators get to spend some fun time together. Today children understood the significance of celebrating the festival of Dussehra .Children were brimming with joy and filled with enthusiasm. Children decorated their Dussehra activity with 9 different grains and kundan decorations on the picture provided, and displayed their master pieces with utmost care.
