NIS is a strong believer and promoter of holistic all round development of its students and follows CBSE curriculum which is not only relevant to 21st century but also extremely practical and precise in its approach. NIS believes learning is an ongoing process. ‘Sa Vidhya Ya Vimukhtaye’ (Education is that which liberates). Thus a vibrant curriculum may take the individual into the realms of co-existence with the immediate and future environment. It makes the individual. Think!

As the school is affiliated to CBSE New Delhi, upto Senior Secondary Level we adhere to the curriculum / examinations and academic schemes stipulated by the Central Board of Secondary Education evolved by the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.

Curriculum Design

Holistic education encompasses development of the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains. While the degree of proficiency required in these areas may vary with the profession one .chooses, it is imperative that students are provided the opportunity for development of each of these domains.NIS curriculum is designed to ensure this

Cognitive Domain Covers

• Complex thinking skills
• Information gathering and processing skills
• Collaboration and cooperation skills
• Communication skills
• Productive habits of mind (critical, creative and self regulated thinking)

Affective Domain Covers

• Discipline, Responsibility, Values and Leadership
• Emotional intelligence, viz, ability to manage emotions
• motivation, empathy and managing relationships.
• Stages of development, viz, trust, autonomy, initiative, competence and identity.

Psychomotor Domain Covers

• Physical fitness - the emphasis is on strength, endurance, flexibility, speed and coordination
• Skill at individual and team games
• All round development of students is ensured through two complimentary processes. Each student is assessed on the various parameters of each of the three domains. This ensures that they focus on these areas and produce creditable performances.

Learn at your own pace!

Every child is different and unique in his/her own way. NIS brings out a learning programme wherein the learning goals are carved through three levels of enrichment, improvement and excellence in accordance with the potential of the child.

Continuous assessment

The evaluation process is objective and continuous for both scholastic and non-scholastic achievements of the students. In the scholastic category, there is a monthly unit test, retest, slip test, term examination, preparatory examination and annual examination in all the core subjects and languages. Grades are given in the non-core subjects such as music, art and craft, computer science and sports. Internal assessment is based on the students' performance in projects, seminars and assignments.

Student Support

Fostering a warm, caring and sharing environment, NIS extends its personal, social and emotional support to students through counseling and mentoring. It also offers remedial and enrichment programmes for the slow learners.

Exams / Assessment / CCE

As per the guidelines of Examination By-Laws of CBSE, New Delhi the assessment followed in the school is continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE). It takes care of assessment of all round development of child's personality. It includes assessment in scholastic as well as co-scholastic aspects of students' growth.

The Primary Section Students (I to V) will be having three terms / semester (I, II, & III) each semester will have one unit test one oral & one term ending exam at the end of the term.

The senior's students VI to X will be having 2 terms, each term will have 2 Formative Assessment (FA) and 1 Summative Assessment (SA).

Formative Assessment

Formative Assessment is a tool used by the teacher to continuously monitor student's progress in non threatening and supportive environment. It involves regular descriptive feedback, a chance for the student to reflect on the performance, take advice and improve upon it. This is diagnostic and remedial assessment, which offers an opportunity to students to improve their work after feedback.

Summative Assessment

Summative Assessment is carried out at the end of the course of learning. It measures or sums up how much a student has learnt from the course. It is usually graded test, scholastic aspects include curricular or subject specific areas, whereas co-scholastic aspects include life skills, co-curricular, attitude, values & also sports & games.

Our teachers are stalwarts in knowledge, flexibility, commitment and motivational skills. The flexibility centered approach facilitates learning to its truest sense. The school also believes in developing its teachers encouraging them toi enhance their skills. To which end, the school conducts in-house training for teachers periodicially and sends them for workshops and training to enhance their knowledge and teaching skills.
